CNL Brass was one of five bands to contest Open C Grade Brass at the Band Association of New South Wales Band Championships held at Penrith on 24 September. The band was defending the C Grade trophy it won in 2010.

The three items performed for adjudication were the hymn His Provision, the common test Prelude and Jubilate and the own choice Portrait of a City. Marks awarded were 46/50 (third), 94/100 (first) and 94/100 (first) respectively, a total of 234, earning the band the Winner’s Shield by one point from Warringah Concert Brass No.2.
Musical Director Ron Boaden wore a broad smile when he walked onto the stage to accept the Trophy on behalf of the band. Ron was very praiseworthy of the dedication shown by band members in preparation for the Championships, with the extension of weekly rehearsal times and the scheduling of additional rehearsals.
