King Edward Park, Newcastle

CNL Brass was one of seven bands to entertain in the Hunter Regional Band Association’s annual event-Bands in the Park- on Sunday 13 November in King Edward Park, Newcastle
The band presented a varied concert program of eleven items, commencing with the baroque style number, Trumpet Voluntary and concluding with the traditional march, Liberty. Included in the program, just for the children present, was Bob the Builder, from the TV series of the same name. Opus One, composed in 1943 and a popular swing/jazz number in the decades since, was particularly well received.
The setting of the band rotunda (more that one hundred years old and renovated in 1988) in King Edward Park, with its grass surrounds, perimeter of tall trees and ocean views, was ideal for the outdoor entertainment provided by the bands on a fine day.
