Christmas Function

Wednesday Evening 21st December
The Band entertained family and friends in a short concert program featuring Christmas carols and Christmas songs.

Three perpetual trophies were awarded at the function, each being decided by the musical director, Ron Boaden. The trophies were awarded to:

  • Clarence Leung, principal cornet, who received the Elwyn Hunt trophy for Bandsmanship.
  • Phil Mitchell, BBb Bass, who accepted the Jim Adams Most Improved trophy.
  • Max Forbes, 2nd Horn, who received the Alan Meldrum Encouragement trophy.

Ron also presented our four committee ladies, Norma Kaiser, Barbara McGilvray, Pat Forbes and Karen Hall with gifts in appreciation of the tasks they had undertaken in support of the Band.

Ron thanked all band members for their commitment in what has been a busy, but successful year. He acknowledged the challenge facing the band in its promotion to Open B Grade, but expressed confidence that the Band would respond and contest Open B Grade for the first time in August 2012.
