“In A Sentimental Mood” Concert: Sunday 15 April

CNL Brass entertained a mainly Seniors audience of about one hundred with a varied Program of twenty-one numbers. The band opened with “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy”, a number made famous in the early forties by The Andrew Sisters. Other numbers included “Puppet on a String”, the Eurovision Contest winning song from 1967, “Hello Dolly”, the song from the 1964 musical of the same name and the well-known “Londonderry Air”. The first half concluded with “A Disney Fantasy”, a medley of popular tunes from Walt Disney cartoons and movies.   

The Glenn Miller number “In the Mood” set the tone for the second half of the concert. Other numbers included Roberta Flack’s 1973 hit “Killing Me Softly”,the 1952 hit “Singin’ in the Rain”,the late Whitney Houston’s “One Moment in Time”, which she sang at the 1988 Olympics, and Julio Inglesias and Willie Nelson’s 1986 number one hit “To All the Girls I’ve Loved Before”.

Soloists and duets were featured within the Program. At the conclusion of the concert, many members of the audience were generous in expressing their praise for the variety of music presented, the quality of playing and the enjoyment that they had experienced.
