Both jazz band leaders, John Kathner and Marcus Holdsworth, play in CNL Brass. Traditional jazz numbers such as Bill Bailey Won’t You Please Come Home, Pennies From Heaven, I Can’t Give You Anything But Love, and Petit Fleur, were included in the jazz repertoire.

Tom Rowell and his wife Anne enjoy the music at "The Music of Tommy Rowell" Concert on 17 February 2013

Tom Rowell and his wife Anne were special guests. Funds raised will assist Tom with ongoing medical care for a debilitating lung disease. This forced his retirement as a prominent brass and jazz band musician in December, 2010.

Many of the numbers played, by the three bands were chosen by Tom. Two in particular, played by CNL Brass, were indicative of his English heritage (he commenced playing at 18 years of age with the English band Ryhope Colliery Brass) –Love’s Old Sweet Song and Land of Hope and Glory.

Each band entertained twice, with thirty numbers being performed throughout the afternoon. CNL Brass opened the afternoon with Everybody Needs Somebody and, to Tom’s delight, closed the concert with the nostalgic Rule Britannia.
