21st April, 2013

CNL Brass attracted an audience of about one hundred to its Autumn Concert. Musical Director Ron Boaden took the opportunity to feature the leading players from different sections of the band.

Alison Tonkin, solo horn, entertained with He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother. Principal trombone Anthony Fowler presented Can’t Take My Eyes Off You. Jou McDougall, soprano cornet, delighted the audience with Demelza, while David Walker, principal euphonium, added a romantic moment with When I Fall In Love.

Guest player Trish O’Hearn, from Toronto Brass, combined with Teena Wallace, solo cornet, in the cornet duet Summertime, and again, later in the program, with a lively foot-tapping number Eine Kleine Oompah Musik. What would an Autumn Concert be without the number Autumn Leaves? This was featured on flugel horn by Doug Hoepper.
In all, nineteen numbers were presented in the afternoon program to a most appreciative audience.
