A mainly senior audience of one hundred and eighty had the opportunity to take a trip down memory lane to when they were in their teens and twenties and savour the music of the Jukebox era. The music of the great artists such as Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley, The Righteous Brothers, Bill Haley and the Comets, The Beatles, just to name a few, and even our own Johnny O’Keefe and his band the Dee Jays, was a feature of the concert. A small rock band of Anthony Fowler (principal trombone) on bass guitar, Robert Paquet (3rd cornet) on guitar, Ben Pettett (BBb bass) on keyboard and Heather Walker on percussion, helped to recreate the sound of rock ‘n’ roll and featured with CNL Brass in eight of the twenty numbers on the program.

To add an authentic mood to the occasion, twenty dancers from the Newcastle 50’s Rock & Roll Dance Club took to the stage and jived to five of the numbers, including Elvis Rocks and Everybody Needs Somebody.
The concert opened with the genuine rock sound of Johnny O’Keefe’s Shout and closed with a tribute to Bill Haley with Rock Around The Croc!
